SunTrust Racing

Team Overview

Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR), founded in November 2006 and headquartered in Indianapolis, is the flagship effort for SunTrust Racing in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series. Owned by three-time sports car champion and two-time Rolex 24 At Daytona winner Wayne Taylor, the team campaigns the No. 10 SunTrust Pontiac for full-time co-drivers Max Angelelli and Michael Valiante.

During its inaugural Rolex Series season in 2007, WTR brought SunTrust its fourth consecutive top-three finish in the season-ending point standings since SunTrust entered the series in 2004. Angelelli and a host of co-drivers that included Jeff Gordon, Jan Magnussen, Memo Gidley and Taylor scored 2007 victories at VIR and Montreal, and finished the season with nine podiums and 11 top-five finishes, adding a pole position at Homestead. WTR collaborated with Penske Racing to run a second sister entry – the No. 9 Toshiba Pontiac Riley for drivers Helio Castroneves, Kurt Busch and Ryan Briscoe – at the 2008 Rolex 24.
