SPEEDCOM Communications Announces Three-Year Renewal

Oct. 10, 2009

HOMESTEAD, Fla. - Officials from SPEEDCOM Communications and Grand-Am Road Racing jointly announced today that the leading motorsports radio and communications company will continue as the "Official Communications Supplier" of Grand-Am through at least 2012. The announcement of the three-year contract extension was made to competitors in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 in the drivers' meeting just prior to today's season-ending Grand Prix of Miami.

"SPEEDCOM has been a valued part of our paddock population for several years now," said Grand-Am President Roger Edmondson. "They replaced another company with a long history here. Maybe in the beginning people were wondering if they were going to match the service, but now SPEEDCOM has set the standard. We're glad to know that SPEEDCOM is renewing and we look forward to many more years of fine service to Grand-Am and our teams."

Headquartered in Daytona Beach with additional corporate operations around the globe, SPEEDCOM Communications is the world leader in motorsports radio and communications systems and also offers a related line of high-performance products and accessories for companies and competitors in all facets of the motorsports industry.

"Establishing a relationship with Grand-Am was the perfect fit when we first entered into our partnership three years ago and it makes even more sense now," said SPEEDCOM Chief Executive Officer Toto Lassally. "Over the last few racing seasons SPEEDCOM has been able to develop close working relationships with not only the Grand-Am organization but the majority of teams in both the Rolex Sports Car Series and the KONI Sports Car Challenge as well. We are really looking forward to continuing to help and work with Grand-Am and all of the great teams that run in all of their series for many years to come."

Created in 1996 and owned by racers for racers, only SPEEDCOM has first-hand experience in understanding the needs of competitors - both behind the wheel and in the pits - and the incredible demands required of equipment and communications in competition. Among SPEEDCOM's innovative products is the exclusive Dual-Talk and Multi-Talk radio systems that allow several members of a racing team, including the driver, to communicate on different channels by simply pressing one of several PTT (push to talk) buttons. SPEEDCOM also offers a variety of more traditional two-way radio systems as well as custom microphone, ear piece and head-set units and every other component needed for dependable and reliable communications up to the rigors of competition.

SPEEDCOM principals also gain first-hand experience on race tracks around the world and frequently test and develop in competition the latest communication products and components in such demanding races as the 24 Hours of Dubai and the 24 Hours of Nurburgring. Only by racing with and using what it sells to competitors around the world can SPEEDCOM know first-hand the demands placed on its equipment in race conditions.

In addition to its flagship headquarters just minutes from the Grand-Am offices in heart of the "World Center of Racing" in Daytona, SPEEDCOM also maintains corporate offices in Spain and Holland. SPEEDCOM products and technology are distributed globally throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, The Caribbean, Spain, Portugal, Holland, Belgium, Scandinavia, Italy, Germany, France and New Zealand. Future expansion calls for operations and distribution in Dubai and Australia. Check out SPEEDCOM at http://www.speedcomracing.com/.
